THE GILLETTE COMPANY
Gillette asked Robert DeFelice & Associates (RDA) to create a sleek, comfortable, portable, lady's curling iron Cary Curl.
Cary Curl was a plug-in, quick-charging curling iron for ladies to recurl a few curls, not intended to replace a corded curling iron.
A flip-down, pronged electrical connector was below the lever that lifted the metal arm over the heating rod. The "handle" was removable and fit over the rod when not in use, just like a cap on a fountain pen, an elegant appliance for a lady's handbag.
Gillette loved the smooth cylindrical shape and comfortable finger rest depression when the metal arm was raised. "It 's pretty nice, looks like a Braun," said the program manager.
RDA's design was created for injection molding.
